plz help loss of performance

specs: ati radeon 9800 pro (sapphire) abit K8T800 Pro athlon 64 3200+ western digital 120 gig hard drive 1 gig ddr 400 (generic) 450wPS.

I heard some wierd clicking noises recently, i could not figure out where it was coming from, iv had previous experiance of a hard driving going out due to some similar noises but this time it was different. Now i seem to be suffering from some serious performance loss. windows takes about 3-5 mins to load alone use to take maybe 20 secs, also when gaming i see a huge loss of performance and a dramatic add on of load time, this hard drive is brand new could this be the issue??

also i was wandering how hot a athlon64 3200 should run... mine runs at about 52-55C could this be to hot?

I don't know what your HD problem could be, but my Athlon XP2000+ (yeah, it's old, but fast enough for my purposes) operates at around 50°C at idle. I've heard it's high, but I really don't think it's doing any damage.
