Mistake Poor quality 12v on superflower psu

HI I am having trouble with my 2nd psu , i stupidly bought a superflower 430w psu from ebuyer to run my mobo and graphics card .( i have a 2nd psu running fans and drives etc).
After installing the new psu and sleeving all the cables i powered it up and started to do a few tests, i ran sisoft sandra cpu benchmark and monitored the voltages with hardware doctor, to my horror i saw the +12v fall to 11.16v well outside the recomended 5%.
I have failed Again , stupidly i tried to save a few quid and have ended up wasting more cash and time if anyone can reccomend a rock solid psu that wont break the bank id be gratefull to hear from you .
thanks

ps . i also have a superflower 430 w psu with red uv sleeving for sale

Hi,

You need to be very concerned about that lack of power. I would suggest that you go for either an ANTEC true power or an ENERMAX Power supply in that order. When we build computers here, it is Antec almost all the time and we have had excellent success with them. I am aware that the Enermax is also an excellent supply so not putting them down, just not my first choice, but would be my choice if I did not have an ANTEC to use.

My System

for what it's worth, i tested many power supplies, and antec, enlight, and enermax all tested wonderfully.

the antec and the enermax stayed well within 5% untill i overloaded the 12 volt circuts past the rated wattage, and then went downhill, stopping at about 9% shy of 12 volts. (and then tripping the power supply's internal breaker switch, making me uplug it for a few seconds to try again.)

whereas the enlight stayed well within 5% far past the rated wattage, and then plummeted, but only immediately before kicking off.

(if it matters, i used three 2-channel fluke digital voltmeters, a pair of no-name amp meters, and lots and lots of light bulbs on a breadboard setup, and then calculated the wattages.)

i would compose a list of all the ones i tested, but the rest actually all did about the exact same, these three are the only ones that stood out from the crowd.

so i wouldnt really recommend any of the other brands, unless you dont need more than 300 watts.

Hi,

I forgot to put the Enlight down and would have to say also that it is an excellent product. I presently have a P4B533-e deluxe (a spare computer I use from time to time) with a P4 2.26 that runs like a charm on an Enlight 300 watt power supply. It is a little harder to find an Enlight higher wattage supply in this area so usually go for the Antec, but Walt is exactly correct, it is a wonderful little supply that needs to be added to the list of quality supplies.

Thanks for the help

Guess what ?
I just Reebooted after 3 hours of sleeving and fitting my Brand New Antec true controll 550 in uv yellow braid and what can i say?,
HMMMMMMMMMMMMM springs to mind

VOLTAGE HEAVEN
the 12v is steady as a rock in bios and on my multimeter as well never straying away from 12.00v at idle or under load it just sits there never fluctuating at all! as for the rest they 5.06 and 3.28 and neither move a muscle under load.

This power suply cost me £90 way more than i wanted to spend but allready the bennefits are quite remarkable im now running at 3. 4 ghz and totaly stable where before i could only hit 3.2 and still be stable and my temp has cpu temp has dropped to 42 deg at idle and 54 after a good run at load about 7 deg lower than before could that be because my previous voltages where ( at idle )
3.14
4.66
11.26+
12.64-
Anyway i was reasured to see you all recomended the Antec
thanks guys
