BOOT PROBLEMS! (possible power supply?)

Hey guys,

I need some major help here. I just got a A7N8X-E Deluxe MOBO with AMD Athlon 3200+ XP that came set up and pre tested. When I put it all together I thought it would be a good time to start from scratch so I booted up from my XP CD and started a fresh install.

I have two hard drives, both Maxtor, the OS is on a 40Gig and the other is just for data (slave) and that's a 200 gig. So heres the problem.

When I boot up it runs through the post and detects everything fine, I can go into bios and everything. The only thing I changed in the BIOS was the AGP aperture size to accomodate a 256MB vid card. However, when I get to the loading screen, the screen will go black like it's about to load the desktop and then I hear a "click" from the hard drives and NOTHING! I have replaced both hard drives and loaded the OS just fine and actually it booted just fine. I installed programs, drivers and even a game, but now when I boot it does the same thing over again and I can't get to the desktop.

Thinking that it might be a PSU problem I have disconnected some fans and other accessories that aren't critical, but I still have the problem. I just ordered another PSU that should be here in a few days (gave me an excuse to tell the wife I needed a new power supply ) Should I expect things to run smoother with a new supply? Or is there something else I am missing. I have tried new IDE cables, switching the jumpers, nothing seems to work. I am not getting a device error or anything, just a black screen.

Please help!
