new DVD burner not working

I just built a new machine, AMD 64 3000+ w/ 1 gig ram installed in a K8N Neo mb(nVidia chipset), WD Raptor HD, Radeon 9800 pro and TDK 1280 (DVD). All installed in a new case w/ 500w ps. Running Windows XP Pro.

The problem: xp sees the dvd, but hangs up trying to access it.
I tried playing audio cds, same thing, it sees the cd even the name, but will not play. I put my old cd burner in the machine and it (cd player) has no problems. I ran Nero, activated the toolbox and told it to test the drive.
I placed a new +r disc in and Nero did a test format, it took forever, but it did it. I have tried to do other test with Nero but it hangs up.

I have replaced the DVD drive and tried different cables. Even moved it from IDE 0 to IDE 1 (master). I checked bios, looks OK....

Any Ideas ?

nevermind

I reverted back to a restore point before SP2.
Removed Nero, re-installed MB drivers. Everything is now wonderful.....
