MSI DR16-B DVD Burner probs

Hi All

OK , i have recently swapped out my trusty Pioneer A05 dvd-r burner for a new swanky dual layer , makes cups of tea and walks the dog burner called the DR16-B by MSI.

My question is this , has anybody else had problems with lock ups on this thing? It will stop burning , throw out Nero (i've also tried Record Now DX) , Nero says it has a write fail , then you can't eject the disc unless you reset the PC. I have had some success with +R discs burning at the minimum speed but alas no luck whatsoever with DVD-R's. I've tried both cheapo ones (that worked well in my A05) and i've tried MAXELL and TDK. I tried a +RW and that worked but a brand new Verbatim -RW didn't!! ...

There is no firmware from MSI. I have tried my old burner again with my new set-up and that is ok. Nero works fine with IMG recorder set so i know it's not the software (DX played up too) , any thoughts?
