DVD - Freeze and skip

Hey.
I just recently baught a DVD movie and in the middle of a scene it freezes and skips to the scene right after.
I have ran this DVD on my computer's DVD drive and have yet to test it out on my other DVD (which I need to buy a new remote for).

What could be causing the problem? Is it the DVD drive or the DVD itself?

Please help me - I want to know whether I should keep this DVD movie or return it.
Thanks!

I would wait until you test it in the standalone player before you come to any conclusions, but to be honest, it seems most likely that it is the DVD itself and not the computer. Are there any deformities or things stuck to the DVD?

The DVD looks clean to me. I just got it yesterday at HMV and it came well packaged.

It could be a defective disk. Is there a reason you can't test this in the other player?

For one, I lost my DVD remote so I can't go right to the scene that freezes and also, the TV is being hogged so I can't try it out until tommorow or the day after.
