Windows XP SP2 Palm HotSync conflict

Ever since receiving new Toshiba Tecra S1 1.7 GHz with Windows XP SP2 , I've been encountering huge problems with HotSyncing my Handspring Platinum using Palm Desktop 4.01. During hotsyncs and after hotsyncs, I've usually get the Blue Screen of Death. When the system reboots I always get the same information in the error report. It shows up as a dump in the Event Viewer.

BCCode : 100000d1 BCP1 : 834059E8 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : F1687646 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

Palm feels that it is a corrupted file downloaded from their Web site and to reinstall. I've tried this and I keep having intermittent memory dumps (4 to 5 a day). This did not occur before I installed the HotSync software, so I know that it is definitely a HotSync problem.

Any ideas would be wonderful.
