Recording TV Activity
How can I hook up a video camera to my TV and record off of it? I want to record some gameplay footage from a video game, but I don't know how I can record it onto the camera and then transport it to my comp.

Re: Recording TV Activity
If your video card has the Red/White/Yellow ports, you can plug them in to the AUX ports of your VCR.

Re: Recording TV Activity
I think the easiest solution might be to hook up the video game system to your computer directly. From there, you can then hook up the TV-out (if you have that capability) from your video card to the TV. Then while you play the game on the TV, you can record it on your computer. Some recoring software will even allow you to view the game directly on the computer.

Re: Recording TV Activity
Well that actually seems pretty logical. Would I need any extra cables if I were to do that?
And not to be a pain, but what software are you talking about when you say "recording software"?

Re: Recording TV Activity
Well, as far as extra stuff, you may need a video-in card (most TV tuners have this capability). That card (if you don't already have one) should have all cables/etc you need.
As far as recording software, there are different kinds. ATi makes software for their cards, and there are also a variety of free and pay for things. There are some linux based ones, but that would require you to install Linux. BeyondTV is a windows based one to buy. I think Orb might have that capability and is free. I think programs like Nero can also do it. There are also programs like Fraps which can record what is happening on the computer and is pay for. Try googling around a bit and check out some of the programs for what works best for you. |

Re: Recording TV Activity
If you don't know if you have one, I'm guessing you don't have one.
Here is a great card that will work pretty well for you: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116625 The 'MCE' edition is a little cheaper and I don't think you need XP MCE if you use alternative software: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116620 There are also cheaper alternatives, but these above have hardware MPEG-2 encoders, so all the work is done on the card instead of stressing the CPU. |

Re: Recording TV Activity
Hey guys.
I was looking around, and I found this at Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1177112314566 It's called the Pinnacle Systems PCTV HD Stick USB 2.0 TV Tuner with PVR . Is this something that I could use? It says that It can receive signals from your TV to your computer, so I'm guessing this is a the right thing.

Re: Recording TV Activity
I've got a Pinnacle PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick. The one in your link will work fine, and the software included is quite good.
Just one word of warning. It includes a mini aerial which I've found to be a complete waste of time. You will need to attach a good quality aerial to receive TV. With digital you either receive the signal or you don't, so there's no fuzzy picture if it's a weak signal, the picture just doesn't appear. So you'll need a good aerial, preferably the roof-mounted one you use for the home TV rather than one of those portable ones.

Re: Recording TV Activity
I couldn't get anything with the mini aerial, but perfect picture quality with the roof aerial. It's the same with all TV cards/sticks, I had the same trouble with an internal Hauppauge PCI card.
