external dvd rw drive not errors
Hi
i have an external LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1653S USB Device and it suddenly seems to be unable to read or acknowledge cds, It will still read dvds, both old data and actual dvd films, it will also still burn dvd films, but it can no longer make a readable data disc it acknowledges a disc is there but it just comes up as corrupted. It does not acknowledge cds at all. my computer is a 2.10 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600) the internal drives are MATSHITA DVD-RAM SW-9581 SONY DVD-ROM DDU1621 software pinnacle instantCD/DVD version 8.3.0.8 I have tried updating the firmware even though i allready had the latest firmware. I have tried the drive indifferent usb ports. I have uninstalled and reinstalled instant cd/dvd several times and i also tried deepburn software that was suggested to someone else having dvdrw trouble, but nothing seems to work. My computer stopped working a few weeks ago it could not find the harddrive and was unable to boot up, either from harddrive or discs so among otherthings i checked out the bios and put it back to default which changed the bus clock to 100megahertz and the processor to 1.25. no luck so i opened the box and made sure all the connnections weren't loose and it seemed to work ok then, not sure if this somehow this effected the dvdrw drive, I have since changed the bus Clock back to its original : 166 megahertz which auotomatically changed the processor back to its original 2.10 gigahertz. any advice would be greatly received as i don't know what else to try and Liteon don't seem to be answering emails at the moment cheers |
