Roll Eyes [SOLVED] cabeling

HI,
HELP.......
I recently somehow changed the cables in my computer. The cables I am talking about are the ones that go to my hard drive and to my cd rom and my dvd/rw and floppy disks.
I now cant get it to boot up and stay up.I know that was stupid... But I did it. I have a MSI 8465PE mother board.Do you happen to know the correct cable connection ie what order they go? from the top to bottom, 3 cables 2 have double connectors. 1 connection to the board is blue the other 2 are white. Also the colored line on the cables. should they be facing in or facin out.????
Thank you For any Help

Re: cabeling

Hi slippy4s, Welcome to TSF!

First of all the 'narrowest' of these cables (they are called an IDE Ribbon), will be for the floppy disc drive...all the IDE Ribbons will have 'keys' (or ridges) that prevent you from installing them the wrong way around...Connect the 'blue' end to the smallest socket on the motherboard, and the other end not the middle (if it has two) plug it into the floppy drive.

Next, take either one of the other 'wider' ribbons; connect the 'blue' end to the IDE1 socket on the motherboard; then with the 'red' edge facing closest to the power plug (the white plug on the HDD), repeat the same instructions as for the floppy drive, but this time it will be for your Hard Disc Drive (HDD).

The third and final IDE Ribbon will be for both your CD-ROM and DVD/RW Drives....same procedure as before, but with a slight difference, in that the 'blue' plug will connect to the IDE2 socket on the motherboard.
(To determine which is IDE1 and IDE2, get a torch and you'll be able to read it marked on the motherboard, or if you have it, check the manual that came with the motherboard.)

You will need to check to see which one of the two out of the CD-ROM and DVD/RW is 'pinned' as the 'Master' and which is the 'Slave'.

The end connector of this second ribbon will plug into the one that is "pinned" as the 'Master', and the 'middle' connector will plug into the other one that is the 'Slave'; once again, the 'red' stripe will be closest to the white power plug to each of the drives.

Warning: Please DO NOT force fit any of these plugs into their respective sockets...they will be a firm fit, but don't force them. If they do not want to plug in relatively easily; then, you have the 'keyway' around the wrong way.

Once you have done this, it's "Mission Accomplished" , and you will be ready to start up the computer.

Now, providing that nothing has been tampered with in the BIOS; it should just 'fire up' normally.

Post back with the results, and if you have any other queries/concerns.

Kind Regards,
