Problem with keyboard?

Hi I just bought a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and I think it's broken but I want to ask to make sure. I have installed the CD and everything but when I plug the usb device into my laptop the laptop doesn't recognize that anything has been plugged in. A light on the keyboard turns on but the computer doesn't even mention that I've plugged a device in. I've tried it on my brothers computer and nothing happened also! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Should I return it?

Also one more question
I have a logitech mouse, is it possible to have a microsoft keyboard installed without uninstalling the logitech software? Thanks

Since you've had the same failure on two different computers, I'd lean toward teh keyboard being defective.

There shouldn't be any conflict between having two different mice on one computer. Of course if you use both at the same time, you could have some interesting curser movements.
