DVD RW drive keeps ejecting after I did this to the comp...

Hi I am having a problem with my Lite-On DVD RW drive. It's always worked fine until a few minutes ago.

A few minutes ago I installed a new card reader drive into my computer. It's the ones that fit into the floppy drive slots and connects to the mobo via a internal USB cord.

I booted up the comp after putting that in....during POST everything was normal...then when windows xp loaded up there were some error messages popping up during the auto-install of the card reader drive. I couldn't remember what they said but something bout missing files so I opened the DVD drive to put in the driver cd that came with the card reader (it said i didnt need the CD if I had XP or greater)....after that I closed the DVD drive n then it opened again by itself a few seconds later. Now everytime I close it, a few seconds it just opens by itself.

I took off the IDE cord from the DVD and it still opens so can't be the connection I dont think. The DVD drive is detected.

ANyone know what's wrong? It opens even during POST. The new card reader is working fine though.

It sounds like your dvd drive decided to fail when you installed the card reader. If it is opening the door with the data cable removed, the drive is faulty.
