MP3 player - Short circuited ports/sockets!?
Hello... Sorry i am a rookie to all of this with basic computer knowledge so would just like anyone to share any opinions they have on whats happened to my damn comp!!?
It goes like this... My friend asked me to put some music from my computer onto his Matsui mp3 player, simple enough it is just a 1Gb usb stick so is as easy as pie... as soon as i put it in, the computer made a strange noise (as if it was dying) but stayed on, now none of my usb ports work, or the old style keyboard or mouse sockets, its as if it has fried all the other things from working! i imagine the hard drive still works.. as does the monitor, because when i try and turn it on it gets to asking for my password but as no keyboard or mouse will work i'm stuck!! if anyone could shed any light on whats happened or what i need to do i would be very grateful!! ![]() ![]()

Re: MP3 player - Short circuited ports/sockets!?
Hi,
![]() That sounds bad. Was this plugged into a front USB port? If it was, then the front panel headers might have been hooked up incorrectly. Basically, any USB device would have caused this if I am thinking correctly here. Unfortunately, if that is the case, then a new board is the only option. Your MP3 player may have been damaged as well. Do you know the manufacturer of this computer or if it was prebuilt? If so and nobody else has made any hardware changes to the inside of the computer, then the manufacturer is at fault. If you have used USB devices before in this computer and this MP3 player is new, then the MP3 player manufacturer is at fault.
