Monitors getting no signal

When rebooting my PC today, my monitor didn't come on when the PC was powering up. Instead the power light just blinked on and off repeatedly. My primary video card is a GEForce 6600. I tried swapping the monitor to the onboard video card (GEforce4) and got the same result. I then swapped out the monitor for the one on my other PC and got the same result with both video cards. Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Re: Monitors getting no signal

I have also tried disconnecting the power to any extra devices so only the bare bones minimum needed to start up would be getting no power. I then removed the memory to check if the motherboard was running fine and it beeped when I tried to startup without memory, so I don't think anything is wrong with the board.

Re: Monitors getting no signal

see if you can borrow another psu to try in it,if it fixes
put your specs into here and work out what power you require,before buying a new one
http://www.extreme.outervision.com/p...ulatorlite.jsp
based on a quality psu and add 30% to the end result and that's the minimum you need
have a read here

Re: Monitors getting no signal

I took the psu out of the other system and connected it to the main one. Only things it has power running to is the board, primary hard drive, and the video card and I still get the same result.

Re: Monitors getting no signal

it is recommended 204W, the main PSU has 288W and the other one I tried has 300W. I booted it up completely and got into windows and logged it in and was able to blindly open up some music.

Re: Monitors getting no signal

post your system specs
204w does not look right on a system with a 6600
the amps on the 12+ line required for
agp=18a
pcie=24a

Re: Monitors getting no signal

AMD Athlon 3200+
2 Sticks 512 DDR
DVD-R
1 USB External HD (which has it's own power source)
1 Internal HD
GEForce 6600 GT AGP
or
integrated GEForce4

Re: Monitors getting no signal

282+30%=366
i included a floppy and 25% for age of capacitors deterioration,so you need to lay your hands on a 400-450w psu

Re: Monitors getting no signal

this should be simple to figure out.
1. unplug computer, hold power button in for 2 minutes. (drains capacitors in motherboard)
->if issue remains:
2. On the back by the power cord there should be an led that is green. when plug in wall, even off that light should be solid. yours might be flashing, if so unplug the 2 connectors from the power supply to the mother board and then plug in to wall, if led is still flashing, you need a new psu, if it is solid, turn off pc, unplug and connect one of the psu connectors back in motherboard and plug in computer, if still solid green led, attach the other connector again. At this point you have either fixed it or the led is still flashing. If it starts flashing again than your motherboard is shot.
