My mouse problem

I have been having some problems with the mice I use. IT started when the original mouse I had would turn off for a few seconds occasionally. I have an optical mouse and I knew that it turned off because the laser turned off. After a while the light under the mouse wouldn't turn on when I plugged it in at all. I plugged it into another computer to see if it was the mouse but it worked fine. I tried both the PS/2 and USB slots on my computer and neither worked. I started using a ball mouse and the same thing happened. It slowly stopped working until it didn't work at all. The same thing happened with two other optical mice. I have one that is working for the time being but it is hard to use. It is a tiny laptop mouse that I found but it so small that I can barely use it. If you any other information about just ask. If anyone could help it would be very much appreciated.
