Serious Computer Problem

One day, my brother and I were about to a PC game disc into our computer. When it was about to initialize, it stopped loading about half-way through. To make sure nothing was wrong, we waited for about 20 minutes. After that the computer still did not move so we removed the disc, shut the computer down, and turned it back on again. But when it came back on it displayed this message "A problem has occurred and Windows did not start properly" or something like that. Then they give you the options on how you want to use the computer (Safe Mode, Last known good configuaration, start windows normally.) Now I've encountered this screen before so I didn't think it was that big a deal. But when I chose start windows normally, it began to load and then flashed a blue screen for litterally 2 seconds and the computer restarted itself. When I tried to choose safe mode, it merely began to start up but then restarted again back to the Dell loading screen. I ran a diagnostics test, but nothing seemed to be wrong. I can't even use the computer to find out what the problem is. Can someone please help me out here?

Re: Serious Computer Problem

What your going to need to do is put your XP disk into your PC, then boot up the PC. Later, when a menu comes up saying 'Welcome to setup' and gives you the option of clicking 'enter' to install windows XP, R for recovery console or F3 to exit, click R. Once loaded it will ask you to type in a number for what you want to log on to. Hit the number it asks, then press enter. It will then ask you for the adminstator passwork (if you don't have one, just push the enter key). It will then say 'C:\windows>'. Type in 'chkdsk /r' (without the inverted comma), then press enter; then sit back, and watch your PC fix itself. When it is done, type 'exit', restart your PC, take out the XP disk and enjoy using your working computer.

Hope this helps.
