Seeing double on the Chat line
My friend who I talk to on a Chat line has a problem. Every time he types a line, TWO lines come up on the screen. It does not happen on MSN but still occurs when using another keyboard, it is peculiar to the chat line only.
He says the problem is NOT apparent when he uses his wife's account. Any ideas anyone? |

Re: Seeing double on the Chat line
I had some trouble getting any sense from the person I spoke of. I cut and pasted your reply on the chat site, and his response was; If I switch user to my wife's account I can log in from there and the problem is not apparent. He went on to say he is his own administrator.
When you speak of user accounts I assumed these are created or changed in O/E, via tools/accounts. Am I getting confused here. What is the significance if he says he is his own administrator? He does not have 0/E but Yahoo and Hotmail. With the scant information I have given you, does your initial reply still stand? |

Re: Seeing double on the Chat line
To me, it seems like he is referring to the windows user accounts (when you first log into windows). I don't see how the term "administrator" would come into any discussion about email accounts in a home environment.
A corrupt user account can cause a multitude of issues with no apparent reason, (as can a corrupt identity in O/E) Another point that may play into the discussion is that O/E (Outlook Express) is an email client that manipulates the email accounts (yahoo and hotmail), two entirely different things. So if they are both using O/E, and that is the "account" he is refferring to, then deleting his identity in O/E and recreating it may be the fix. It might be wise to clarify the terms he is using to discuss the issue at hand. A user account would be what he logs into windows with, conceivably his wife has an account that she logs into windows under and he also has a user account to log into windows. Each would have their own individual windows settings. If they don't have seperate windows logins, and both use O/E to manage their email, it's possible they have seperate identities in O/E. In that case, each O/E identity would have his/her own settings in O/E. An identity in O/E is comparable to a user account in windows. Since you state he doesn't have outlook express, then he must be talking about his windows user account. With O/E, you either use it or you don't. Therefore, settings in O/E would have no effect on the issue at hand. All of that said, the initial reply still stands as a possible cause of his issue |
