DVD drive burns DVD's, won't read them.

I recently bought a spindle of DVD's to use for data backups and miscellaneous use. However, the drive can burn the dvd's fine, but it will not read them after the burn. I can use other DVDs i've burned previously, and normal from a mnufacturer DVDs with no problem. Is there something I need to update or change, or did I waste $30 on the new DVDs?

I'm using an LG DVD burner.

it sounds like it does not like that brand of dvd's and the burn is not going deep enough
check for a firmware update for the drive

What background apps are you running? I'm a gamer who uses screen recorders once in a while and dvds won't read when they're running in the back, even when they're not being used. Any similar app running in the background may cause the dvd to not play or play distorted, a form of DRM.

Nothing in the background. I've tried booting with the DVD in the drive, safe mode, everything. Where can I find a firmware update if I need to?

Re: DVD drive burns DVD's, won't read them.

I haven't had problems with any other DVD brands, i'be burned fugifilm DVDs with no problem. These Maxwell one's are the only ones that give me problems. It's not so much the getting a new drive that's the problem, its' that I have data backed up on these unreadable disks i'd like to get at.

Re: DVD drive burns DVD's, won't read them.

If other brand dvd's work with your machine, it looks as if you wasted your money on these. If a particular manufacturer of disks works for you, dont rock the boat.

Re: DVD drive burns DVD's, won't read them.

see if a friends computer can read them and if it can get them to copy them to a brand of disk that works with your drive

Re: DVD drive burns DVD's, won't read them.
