Mozilla Hates me, and so does every other program...

Well usually I can figure these out... but I'm stumped. My FireFox keeps crashing even at start. IE does also, not so much though. I can't install programs, and my computer reboots once or twice.... Its frustrating me, I'm gonna put my foot so far up my CPU's ***! Omg. Can I get some advice! Lol

Re: Mozilla Hates me, and so does every other program...

So I never found anything. I reformated and its still doing it... is it possible is the CPU was overheating... or the video card was going bad, that it could happen?

If you don't use Fx, does this behavior still occur?

If yes then CPU/GPU overheating, RAM corruption/instability or PSU problems can easily be the issue/s, yes.

If no, then it's a problem with Fx. Start it up in "Firefox Safe Mode" through the Start menu entry and see what happens.

Re: Mozilla Hates me, and so does every other program...

Well I have problems with games and IE also. I didn't think about my mem... but It maybe. I will get a new stick and see if that helps. I had two 512s I believe, and one went. Then I got a replacement and it went a week later. So now Im only on a 256/512 stick. But I never had this problem before.

However. for the CPU, whats an average TEMP for it?

Which CPU do you have? Post your system specs. (don't forget the power supply info)

Av. temp is CPU dependent.

This doesn't look like a Firefox problem at all. Maybe a supermod can move it...

Hmm.. you have a Echo Star PSU, they are not worth much at all hence the quality and power delivery is very bad. The 600W is on for around free after rebate or $20 at most online. You are much better off getting a solid 400W PSU than that. That will only do more harm than any good.

Have a read of this please: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...selection.html

If you have any questions, make sure to put them forward.

I'd like to say your system CPU will perform OK, enough for general use (nothing like gaming though) but your system RAM is not OK> 256MB will be a massive hindrance in performance. If you loadup basic computer services at startup, plus a firewall, anti-virus, a hijack blocker and a registry monitor with MS Word or Firefox, you can expect that your 256MB will be fully exhausted and make the system crash down to a crawl.

It looks like the lack of memory is your possible problem along with that PSU. Don't be tricked, that PSU is like a 150W 40% efficient PSU relabeled as a 600W. Look at the price, in this market, nothing can be made for below ~$50 (unless one off) and have any quality.

*Get another 256MB stick of RAM, try getting a matching one if possible and then see how it goes.

*Also, seriously, change out that PSU. If you can still return it, do so. I believe the voltages it provide will be very unregulated with very bad ripple. Basically killing the components. Something like a SeaSonic S12 380W, Antec Earthwatts 430W (etc) are enough for you and solid quality at affordable prices.

1.6GHz P4 is a S478 Willamette IIRC and they have a high vcore, around 1.75V. Your temps should preferably be 55C and below at full load. Even 55C is too much for me, 50C at full load is what I deem not bad although it could be better. And thats when your system is fully loaded.

*Install this ( Sensors View - Using Sensors View), monitor your temps while doing something intensive on your system and post back the "voltages", "temperatures" and "fan speeds" it shows.

Re: Mozilla Hates me, and so does every other program...

Oyh, Well I guess I'll put my Original PSU back in. Because I'm still having the problem. Lol

Ok Here we go.

CPU: 40C
SYS: 30C
HD0: 35C
CPU CLock Speed :1614 mhz

CpU usage is random... lol
Mem Usage lol... 75% Always
HDD 5%
Nic jumps to 2% not often at all

CPU FAN : 4688
Hmm.. System fan... 0? I'm not sure why?

Its funny. My system runs CS, HL2 Command and Conquer well and even better when I had my new Mem stick. So I will get a few soon.

Re: Mozilla Hates me, and so does every other program...

Try running a game, an intensive area and then monitor the temps.

What CPU cooling are you using?
What's your original PSU brand/model/power?

The CPU temps look very low to me TBH, like the sensors are not being read correctly or faulty.

Re: Mozilla Hates me, and so does every other program...

Ok, I'll do that after work tomorrow, I need to install something.

I'm not sure about the CPU cooling...

My old PSU was a Raidmax (switching Power) Dee dee dee
Model: RD-350w

TBH? sorry...

That could be.. I've had this computer for a few years... I got it used... It was already put together. All I did was put in a New PSU and HDD, Oh and Mem Sticks. Thats it.

I was watching a video online, the temps went up a deg or two that was it and Mem usage went up

To Be Honest.

Raidmax! That's just as bad. A fire pit waiting to show itself.

Like mentioned in the first link re PSUs; a good PSU should comprise a good amount of your system budget. It powers everything and also can kill/fry everything i.e., cause bleak performance, data corruption, hard-drive corruption, kill RAM, kill the CPU and MB, etc.

It needs to be of a very good quality. I've never yet seen a 48,000lbs F16-I with 80lbs 40HP 1000CC engine, trying to lift off, let alone fight an air battle.

Re: Mozilla Hates me, and so does every other program...

Ok, now just need to find some good ones. Lol

Love the F16 Comment! Lol

I'll do all that. And we will see how the "Restarting" and closing of browsers go... Oyh. I better be getting much better with computers hardware after this!
