hi guys.
i registered here coz i know absolutely nothing about computers.hehehehe.i bought a dvd writer (samsung writemaster) and here is where you guys gona laugh. i have a pentium II 350MHz with windows XP on it and it seems to pick up the dvd writer in "my computer" but when i put a cd in to read the mouse turns into an hour glass and it just hangs.then it says not responding. here is what my friend and i did so far and still it doesnt work. we put it in and in bios it picks the dvd writer up as CDROM. the other options "AUTO, ARMD" does not work.i doesnt pick it up in "my computer".we tried putting it on the secondary IDE cable but that didnt work either.my friend said something about flash the bios but when he clicked on it the program said pci bus not detected or something. so as i said it pick up the dvd drive in "my computer" as "dvd ram drive". but when i click on it to see the contents of the cd it hangs and program not responding. do you guys think that it is the reason that i have a pentium II that it can communicate with the thing? i am not a big computer fan thats why i dont have an awsome fast one.hehehehe. i use it for music and data.thats all. anyone know what else can be the prob? thanks have an awsome weekend. |

Re: New Dvd Writer Not Working
hi guys. thanks for your help hey.but i have to do some studying on this registry links you gave me coz as i said, tihs is all greek to me.know nothing about computers.but i will go study up this links and see what i can do.
i dont know what cable i used,i unplugged my normal CD/RW drive and put its wires exactly like that in the DVD writer.i dont know if its 40 or 80 pin.its grey and was plugged into my CD/RW drive..i put the jumper on slave just as with the CD/RW. but it still doesnt want to show the contents of the DVD in the drive. it picks it up and shows the icon in "my computer" but if i double click to open it, it hangs and says program not responding. so for some reason it picks up there is a DVD drive and all but just wont open it.*sigh* i will see what i can do and let you guys know.thanks a lot.gota do some studying now. |
