DVD Burner

I recently bought a new HP Dual Layer DVD Burner.

I installed it, booted up, windows installed it etc etc...

I tossed in a cd, and installed some software without a problem, then when I put another cd in, nothing happened. When I viewed it in "my computer" it showed up as if there was no disk in the drive. When I try to burn, it says there is no media.

I put the drive in another comp and I'm still having the same problem.

Any idea's?

Re: DVD Burner

My computer is a HP 873N and the new drive I installed is a HP DVD840.

I have the drive installed as the master, with the original driver as the secondary.

I have also tried updating the driver and firmware, but neither helped at all.

Re: DVD Burner

Sounds like you are doing everything correctly. Where did you purchase this drive?

Re: DVD Burner

Fry's Electronics.

It's a refurbished drive so I assume that's my problem. Hopefully HP or Fry's will be willing to replace/fix it.
