Mouse problem
I was using my backup pc, a HP Pavilion, when the cursor froze. At first I thought Windows 98 SE had frozen, then a box popped up saying a mouse was not detected. So, I substitued another mouse and hardbooted the pc. The mouse worked while the pc was loading, by this I mean the cursor would move, but as soon as the icons were all loaded, the cursor froze again. Where do I start looking to resolve this?

Bruiser
Check your device manager for yellow alerts In the manager click "view" then click "show hidden devices" Make sure only 1 mouse is listed. You arent talking about an opticle mouse, are you?

I ran it through Panda and Housecall, after running Adaware and Spybot. Adaware and Spybot did find some things so those things were eliminated. Panda and Housecall found nothing. I added Spywareblaster, updated, and enabled all protections. I shut the pc down, and after several minutes restarted. This time the mouse worked. Is it fixed? I guess time will tell. It wouldn't surprise me that the next time it's shutdown and restarted the mouse won't work.
