DVD-ROM drive can't detect discs
I regularly watch DVDs on my laptop, and last night I got it out to watch a movie. When I put the disc in the drive the machine wouldn't recognise that there was anything there. I tried several different discs, but none of them registered. I checked the hardware settings, did a virus scan and ran some troubleshooters, but coudn't find any problems. The light on the drive comes on when I press the eject button, and when I close the drive, but otherwise there are no lights, and the drive isn't making any sounds at all.
The whole thing's really weird, because I had been watching a DVD the night before and no one has so much as touched the laptop in between times - no settings have changed, no viruses picked up, nada. I haven't got the specs of my laptop or disc drive to hand, but I'll post them as soon as I can. I'd really appreciate anything anyone can suggest, Cheers, Erro xx |
