CD-RW issues
I was using the computer the other day, and a large storm came up. I started to close a cd that i was burning. The storm got really bad, and the next thing I knew, it seemed like the computer had turned off. The CD was still in the CD-RW drive. I restarted to get the cd out, and the computer said that there was not a cd-rw drive on the computer
Now I cannot get the cd out, I cannot get the computer to recognize the burner, and I have no idea what to do. HELP Thanks for any assistance that you can give.

Sometimes, when a CD's burning process is interrupted, it becomes a sort of "killer CD-Rom", meaning that the drive won't eject it, and sometimes it will freeze the computer before it can even load the OS.
Most of the drives I've seen have a little hole somewhere on them- this is a release latch to open the drive manually in case something like this should happen. Use a bent paper clip to press this button, and the tray should come out far enough that you can pull it the rest of the way out in order to remove the CD. |
