DVD writer keeps making my computer crash

Every time I put a blank dvd or even a blank cd my computer crashes. I can play a cd or dvd that has been written on though. It started intermittently but now its all the time. Windows says it drivers clashing and I have tried disabling a couple but it hasn't helped so far.

i would try updating the dvdrw's driver. i would also try reinstalling the burning software and disabling windows cd writing.
but more specs and details would be helpful
