Suggestions on WHERE to buy RAM
Taking suggestions on where to buy RAM...
Doesn't matter if its online or stores. Things I'm considering: price and quality of the RAM. |

Hi,
In my opinion, the most important consideration in buying ram is the policy regarding taking back the ram in exchange if it does not work in your machine. There are so many cases of some buying ram that simply do not work for some reason or another in their machine and they are stuck with it. I think NewEgg might be a place to look where it can be exchanged, but I have not dealt with them, so not sure.....do hear good reports from their customers. If they won't guarantee compatibility, DON'T BUY, find a place that will. |

www.newegg.com
The BEST place I've found for hardware, execellent customer service, fast shipping/order processing, quality products, a TAD more pricey than the cheapest places on pricewatch.com but the above things make it far worthwhile. |

Crucial is where I get all my RAM from. Good quality and fast shipping. Prices are usually fair.

I've bought memory from newegg, and it was just fine. The prices were competitive, though not the lowest, but they have a certain period of time where you can send it back, plus most of the higher-end manufacturers of RAM sold on newegg have lifetime warrantees.

Some motherboards reccomend RAM (brands and speeds) that they have successfully used in testing their MB's. You might look at their website to see if they have. Other than that just don't buy anything that has "generic" or "housebrand" in the description. Buying those types of RAM actually makes it harder to do things error free, like installing WinXP or playing games. I also buy from Newegg.com, they usually exchange for free or refund with a 15% restocking fee.
