New to Forum, but need help
Hello guys and gals. I'm not a total noob when it comes to computers. i can change/add memory, hard drive or what not.
What i don't understand is how to know what components are compatible. i want a system for some gaming, video editing, web browsing and misc... what i had in mind was this: Processor-- Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz 2M sharing L2 Cache LGA 775 Mother Board-- Not sure. all the slots and what not are confusing. i do know it has to match the processor, right? Ram-- Need at least 2GB maybe 3GB, Need help here to. whats the difference between unbuffered and buffered? Whats a decent brand to buy? Hard drive-- Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000KS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive DVD/CD Drive-- SONY Combo Drive Black IDE Model CRX320EE/B2S W/O SW - OEM (need two hate burning to the HD then to a disc). Sound Card-- Not sure as i don't have good quality speakers and i won't get any time soon. Video Card-- Foxconn FV-N76TM2D2 Ge-force 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card. I'm hoping to record videos off the TV like when i play 360, so i can show people how i own, or for my team so my clan can strategize been thinking of getting a good power supply which i haven't looked into yet, and i do have a case which i may use my dell 4700 if it works, if not i will get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133154 Plan on getting Vista but will have to buy Windows media center for time being. |

For conroe you will need an Intel 975, 965 or 945 ( budget ) chipset to run it, there are plenty to choose from from the likes of Asus and gigabite
I like the P5w2 DH deluxe or the P5B from asus 2 gig of ram works nice in Vista, look at some OCZ or corsair and depending on what motherboard you buy and how much money you want to spend look at the 667mhz stuff and get 2X 1G dual channel kit I strongly suggest having a read of our power supply article, there is a link in the main page of most of the hardware subforums
