Broken hardware + eBay = $$$

Hey there
Just had some advice for those of you with broken hardware that are planning in throwing it away. I would reccomend putting the broken item on eBay. Make sure you make it very clear that the item is broken, and sometimes people will still buy it. I just sold an Intel Celeron 2.2GHZ/400MHz socket 478 with 17 bent pins!
Just a thought for those throwing away broken hardware.
P.S. Obviously it would be great to sell old working hardware as well.

I have in the past straightened CPU pins with a credit card.

Full ESD protection of course.

I have also sold several items on ebay as "Spares or repair" in the past.

I would be very reluctant to sell a used hard drive on ebay without wipeing it first. Partitioning & formatting and is not enough!

Yeah, for hard drives, I would use a program like Boot & Nuke (dban.sourceforge.net) to ensure that all data and all traces of data are completely wiped clean from the HDD.

I buy and sell used parts all the time on eBay. Sometimes I'll buy whole computers and laptops just to salvage parts. It's cheap and can be very profitable if done right.
