power supply help!
ok, lately, i've been having all sorts of trouble with hardware...i've overcomed all except one..
one my of my power supplies(Enermax FMA 535W) stopped working...So i'm like, ok, no biggie, i'll just return it for another one. however, fry's didnt have that one in stock so i chose a different one(Ultra X2 550w Silver) i connect all the cables and such in the right places...and when i turn it on, it powered up for like half a second then died....i would try again and no lights turned on....i turned the power supply off and it showed the lights again for half a second then shut down.. so what's going on? i'm gonnna see if that power supply works on my computer and if not i may have to go back and return it AGAIN! please help! |

Well, first off I'd like to suggest you return it for another Enermax again, as you downgraded quality quite a bit there.
Secondly, what are your system specs and case cooling? Even the Enermax may be underpowered if your trying to power SLi or it's overheating. |

Hi R3zagron ,
You know Ralck is right on with his comments. The power supply you purchased although listed as more watts is most likely not nearly as powerful as the Enermax you replaced. Tell you what, it is hard to beat an Enermax for a power supply if you compare wattage only. The amps they put on those Enermax supplies are very accurate (others only dream of the amps they list) and they are a great supply. In any power supply comparison, amperage (true amperage) is much more important than the wattage.
