Games/Video Problems
First of all, I guess I'll say hello, I'm new to the forum .
Now, on to my problem. For probably a month now, I've had a few problems, and throughout that time, I've brought it into a professional, and have reinstalled Windows. This, however, didn't fix my computer. The first problem is that whenever I play a game, namely Diablo II and World of Warcraft, it lags extremely badly. For D2, it just seems to run in extremely low FPS,and in WoW, everything is simply jagged, and very slow. My system meets the specs, and before the problems began, I could play both without a hint of lag. I'm almost certain I don't have any viruses or spyware, and I've done several Defrags and Disk Scans without any solutions. The second problem is that I can't play any videos without lag. Every few seconds it'll freeze for, maybe, a second or so. Other than this I can't think of any hints to help pinpoint the problem... I've also checked and made sure that no processes except the necessary ones are running in the background. I've shut off my firewall as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated . ![]() Here's my system specs (nothing special, but it should run these games -Intel Celeron D 320, 2400 MHz (18 x 133) -Biostar P4VMA-M (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN) -512 MB (PC2700 DDR SDRAM) -ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350) -Western Digital WDC WD800JB-00JJA0 (74 GB, IDE) Hardrive |

When you reinstalled Windows, did you update your graphics drivers, motherboard chipset drivers and DirectX?

I checked the temp and when I started up Diablo II, it jumped from 62-63ish degrees to about 70. However, I don't know if that's significant. Quote:

70C is hot for a cpu temp so I would try getting a can of compressed air and clean the dust out of the cpu heatsink and powersupply.
The "professional" should have already checked and cleaned this. Caution when using compressed air keep the can upright do not tilt on its side as this can cause liquid to spray out that can harm computer parts, also do not use a electric vacum, this can casuse static electricity that is harmfull to computer parts |
