The USB ports on my computer motherboard are not working properly.
Motherboard is an ABIT AN-7 with an AMD Athlon XP 2.2 ghz processor. My windows install is completely updates as are my USB drivers from the ABIT website. My problem is whenever I plug in any sort of flash drive or peripheral with flash style memory (an MP3 player) the computer freezes up until I remove the device. It will sometimes work for a short period usually less than 10 second or so. Once in a blue moon the device will work properly for an extended period. But 90% of the time the device causes the computer to freeze up after about 10 seconds. Thanks Marcus |

Hi,
Have you gone to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager....then boogie on down to the USB area and opened it with the little + sign and checked to see if there are any red or yellow marks that would indicate a driver problem?

USB showing up good in Device Manager
I checked device manager and everything looks good, but still having problem. I have updated board drivers (both ABIT and NVIDIA web sites) and and will check with microsoft next.
My printer is on one of the rear USB ports and gives me no problems. |
