Bluetooth mouse driving me CRAZY!!!

Okay, I bought this mouse a few days ago from a canuck, and it arrived pretty quick. When I unpackaged it, I first noticed wear on the little pads. Okay, so it's not brand new, but I was under the impression that "refurbished" didn't just mean "returned and repackaged". I turn the thing on, and it doesn't register with my computer. Installed Logitech's program, Setpoint (man what a steamer!), and it installs, the mouse starts working for a few seconds and then stops. After a few tries I get it working. Then it stops. I restart, and it's working for a minute or two- that is, until setpoint loads and it drops the connection. I close setpoint, and it reconnects. I think 'this is fine, I'll just uninstall setpoint', so I do. I load up F.E.A.R. and start playing. I'm up against this supersoldier clone thing, and I go to pistol whip it, when- lo and behold- I have no mouse control. I shake the thing around, and maybe 10 seconds later it's reconnected. I keep playing for a few minutes, the thing goes down again, and stays down. At this point I'm pissed. I close out of the game, back to the desktop. Bluetooth icon's rune is white, indicating no connection. Stays that way for 5 or 6 minutes, all the while I'm pressing the reset button on the mouse and shaking it around. Finally it reconnects. ***?

I have yet to test the mouse with my brother's computer, and I have an idea of what could be wrong if it's not the mouse. A while back, I set up an ad-hoc network to LAN with some friends. Ever since I did that, bluetooth icon shows a connection to a 169.x.x.x address, and all my friends PnP device names for their computers are shown in 'my network places', along with the 'mshome' workgroup which has no computers in it. I think I may have enabled ICS when I tried to set up the LAN, but I still don't see how that could be causing this.

Any ideas? I'd really appreciate the advice.

Uninstalled the widcomm (P.O.S.) manufacturer bluetooth stack and software, and let windows stuff reinstall. Whenever I allow logitech's software to load, the mouse stops working. As soon as I exit that tray icon, it starts working again, but only for periods of about 5 minutes, after which time I have to turn it off and back on a few times before it will re-register.

It goes without saying that this is completely unworkbable, especially when playing games. It really ticks me off too, because otherwise it's a nice mouse.

Suggestions?
