Plustek Scanner Problem

When I try to scan using Photoshop CS2, I get an error message which says[Generic Error]. I have a Plustek ST64+ scanner. When I click and close the error box, I then will click on prescan or scan and the scanning software will freeze up. I have uninstalled the scanner and its scanning software and then reinstall and I get the same error message[ Generic Error]. The scanner is installed because it is in the Device Manager and it shows it is working. I hope someone can help me resolve this problem. My PC specs are below.

Windows XP Pro SP2
Proccessor: 2.6 GHz
Ram: 1 gig
Hard drive: 160 Gig

Do you show any alerts in the device manager?
What other usb devices do you have installed? Do they all work ok.

All my other USB devices work just fine. The Device Manager shows my scanner is working fine. No alerts at all.
