Nero Burning Room won't work
In the midst of laptop disaster! Dropped the laptop today- destroyed the screen. Now hooked up via desktop monitor but scared I did something to hard-drive so I'm tryingto get my main docs onto CD. For some reason, Nero won't burn. One message I get is invalid track info.
Other times ,it says successful burn but there is nothing htere. I am using both CD R and CD RW. I do't know how to figure out what's wrong since i don't understand the terms. Don't know what track info is. Any ideas? |

If you are using XP, it has built in burning software (open up the CD from My Computer with a blank disc in, and copy files to it, then click burn on the left). You could see if this gives better results, although I suspect, unfortunately, the errors are probably from a problem with the drive itself.

If you have another computer, you have two options for backup, assuming CD burning is not an option:
1. If the computers are on the same network, you can share the drive on the laptop by going into the properties of drive C, and enabling sharing in the 'sharing' tab. Then on the other computer, browse to "my network places", then go to 'entire network', 'microsoft windows network', click whatever workgroup is listed, and then hopefully your laptop's hard drive will be on the next page, and you can start backing things up over the network. 2. Physically remove the hard drive of the laptop, and purchase an ATA adapter. Then crack open the case of a desktop, jumper the laptop hard drive as slave, and pull the files off directly. Hope this helps, your screen has my sympathy...
