Front panel USB question

I wish to connect the two USB ports on the front bezel of the pc to the internal open port on the USB 2.0 pci card that I just installed. The cable from the front panel ports use a Standard Intel USB Header Connector.

Is there a cable adapter that I can use to do this?

Will this plug into the female end of the front bezel cable? (I've unplugged it from the MOBO, which has Intel Standard male pins).

They don't give any kind of official specs on generic cables so you can't be 100% sure. But from the picture they look like they're compatible. The standard wire colors for USB are:
  • red = +5 volts
  • white = - data
  • green = + data
  • black = ground
The fifth pin is the shield ground which is used to reduce electrical noise and doesn't have to be connected. The colors of the wires in the picture match the Intel standard order. Normally this kind of cable is made only for the Intel standard so it's about 99.9% likely to work properly.

Thank you.

I'll try and sort out the cable. It's flat with one red stripe.

There's always the good 'old soldering iron !!
