Audio Input
I have a question regarding the physical input on my PC.
I have two sets of audio input/outputs, one on the front of my PC, with 2 USB plugs, as well as on the back, where it normally is. I normally used the one at front, for both my headphones (output) and microphone (input) but the front mic input stopped working for some reason, and it felt physically loose, so I moved them to the back. Now, the mic input at the back has stopped working, and only output for my headphones works. Both the front and the back, the audio inputs for my microphone have kicked out. I have tried the microphone on other PC's, and it works fine, and I tried a different model microphone in this PC, and it also did not work. Is this easy to fix (just open the PC, tighten something?) or replace (just buy a new little plug-in magnet type thing? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. |

G'Day korcskru, and Welcome to TSF.
Try these steps and see if it helps..... 1. Right click on the volume icon in the system tray [at the bottom right of your Desktop near the clock] > Adjust Audio Properties > Under "speaker Settings" > Advanced > now select 'Stereo Headphones' from the drop down box > Apply > OK. 2. Right click the volume icon again, but this time > Open Volume Control > Options > select 'Advanced Controls', now click on the 'Advanced' button under 'Microphone'> check the box ' 1 Mic Boost' > Close. 3. Now go back into 'Options' > Properties > scroll down and tick the box 'Microphone' > OK....close out of the Volume Control Window and see if it works. 4. To make doubly sure that it works, you can try this last step... Open the 'Adjust Audio Properties' again as per step 1, but this time, > Voice > Test Hardware, and a wizard will guide you through a test for your equipment, but be sure to do the steps I suggest here in order, or else the Hardware Test Wizard will not recognise that you have Stereo Headphones. Give it a go and report back with the results.
