Help Please...Computer Shutting Down

Im not the best with computers but ill try and explain my problem and hope you guys have a solution...

I bought my computer a year last december (Phillips LS1000) its been working fine but recently i have had a few problems and today the biggest one of all preventing me being able to use my computer...

Firstly a few months ago i noticed that when i started my computer my CD/DVD/RW combo drive was not being detected, it would not pick up any cd's that i put in the drive, usually this was resolved by simply rebooting the computer once/twice until it worked so was not a big problem

Secondly when playing games i have occasionally been receiving errors, the game crashes and i got the error that my Gfx card has stopped responding to commands and my computer needs to reboot, this has been happening more frequently of late also

And lastly the biggest problem, today i turned my computer on and began using it, after about 10 minutes the computer just shut off with no warnings, i turned it off and on but it immediatly turned off time and time again. After about 20 attempts and no success i decided to do a quick format on my computer, i did this...and finally i was back on my factory restored desktop and my computer was working, i installed my broadband and anti virus and was back on the internet, after about 2 hours this afternoon of computer working normally suddenly i had a crash, my computer did not do anything and just froze, i just restarted it by turning it off and put it back on, another 30 minutes after this my computer just shut itself off again...

I restarted and have been using it for about 1 hour now with no problems but i do suspect it is only a matter of time before it happens again?

I would really appreciate any help

Random reboots are often the result of heat buildup. The fact that you formatted the drive and are still having problems tells me it's probably not an operating system problem. Check to make sure all your fans are working. If you have temperature monitors installed (most likely you do), you can download a program called Speedfan (just google it) to look at the temperatures inside your case. Random crashing can be the result of various things, just try checking if it's heat first because that's usually what it is.

Hi, and welcome to TSF!
Did your DVD drive and gaming problems get fixed when you reformated? Your shuting down problem is overheating, for temperature monitoring I recomend Motherboard Monitor. Temps of above 60 degrees (c) will indicate a problem. If you see fans that are not spinning, give them a tap to see if they start spining. I also recomend cleaning out the inside of the computer with a can of compressed air that can be purchased at an electronics or office store. About your DVD drive problem, did it appear that power was going to the drive?
