fried firewire port ?
OK I always said that if you force a FireWire (or any other shaped) plug into its socket backwards, you're a dumbass.
Well, apparently I did, and I am. I guess +PWR went in to the A+ data line, and GND from A-. Plug was in for 15-20 seconds. So is my port "definitely" or "possibly" fried? It, well, doesn't work.... tim

I would start shopping for a PCI firewire card if I were you; it sounds like it's gone...
On the bright side though, those USB/Firewire cards are extremely cheap now.
