Hi everyone

I don't exactly how to explain it,
but everytime when use a program or a game in the computer, in a few minutes comes up a blue screen and says (at the bottom of the screen it says..) "beginning of dump physical memory"

it writes sometimes "atapy.sys" and some other files..

If you can't recognize the problem I'll try to give more details about it.

it happens most of the times when I play a game.

Do you mean atapi.sys? if so check out this aptly named forum here. Click on show all and read away, there's a possible solution down the list somewhere.

You're right, they are discribing the exact problem that I also have..
But I don't understand what to do! it is too hard to understand what they say...

I wonder maybe anyone can explain me in a better way what shouuld I do/can I do.

Hope this makes more sense:

The thread given above is confusing because it addresses multiple issues based mostly on the reference “atapi.sys” and no single specific error message. The gist of the thread is that those people may have an issue with memory, hard drive, system files or a wrong version of atapi.sys, etc. Rather than try to address all the possibilities, please post your exact error message including any text references. All the numbers following “Date Stamp xxxxxxxx Begin dump” aren’t necessary. Also, check event viewer as follows: Start>contol panel>administrative tools>event viewer>select “system” in left panel.

In right panel will be a list of events. Highlight the error (a red X), rite click on it, select properties. The error will be described. Please post the error description and event ID number

Also, select “Application” in left panel and check the right panel the same way. We may be able to narrow things down for you

Based on generalities you can try:

To check and automatically replace system files (quick and easy fix):

Start>run>sfc /scannow

To check the drive for errors:

Start>run>cmd>click o.k. At the prompt>chkdsk c: /f /r and reboot. (could take a very long time if a large drive

check your device manager for any yellow alerts

please give us your complete system specs including your ram and power supply... along with the age of your rom. it still needs an 80 wire ribbon cable, not an antiquated 40 wire cable.

if you do the file checker, you will need your xp cd
run the system file checker = put in your windows disk

go to the run box on the start menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not recognized ) [ space between c and / ]

hit enter
