My DVD and CD ROM drives suddenly won't work!
I just finished using partition magic to resize the partitions on my computer, and now both my DVD and CD drives won't work. The trays open and close, but that's it.
When I go to Control Panel - Administrative tools - Computer Management - Device manager - DVD/CD-ROM drives, an alert exclamation mark appears on the icons for both drives. In the properties of the DVD drive, it says: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" In the properties of the CD drive it says: "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)" Any idea on how I can fix this? Your help is greatly appreciated. |

What happens if you uninstall the two drives from Device Manager and restart the PC? Do they try and reinstall with the same results?
If so I would download the chipset drivers for your Motherboard, this should reinstall the drivers for your IDE ports. |
