Monitor won't turn on, No beep, Mobo not posting?
Hi. My monitor won't turn on but everything else is on. My motherboard must not be posting. Istill n unplugged everything except the essentials and it still would not turn on. I then tried reseting CMOS but ot luck. After trying all these things and it still not working, does this mean it is my motherboard is the hardware at fault? It is definetly not my new monitor.
Antec 480w Neo Gigabyte K8 Triton NF3 3700+ San Diego X800GTO HIS Turbo ICE II Sata150 HD This is not a new build. Brother shipped from out of state to me. It was packaged very well. I just tried a swapped out the vid card for a 7800gt from another comp but that didn't help. Thanks -Will Last edited by starrwsn; 04-25-2006 at 07:45 PM. |

Make sure the case speaker is properly connected.
Disconnect the drives. Remove the video card and the ram and see if it beeps. It may also be a bad CMOS battery on the motherboard. If it starts beeping, then it is probable that the motherboard and Cpu is OK. Add back the video and 1 stick of ram and see if it boots. If not and you have more than 1 stick of Ram,try the other 1. Let us know how it goes.

So far,it looks like either the motherboard or CPU.
One last thing to try. Remove the motherbaord from the case and see if the little brass standoffs that the motherbard mount to are in the correct position. They should be mounted only where they line up with the holes in the motherboard. If one is out of place,it can short the motherbord causing it not to start, along with other problems. Also, connect the speaker and other connectors required to boot it, while it is outside the case and try to boot it. This will indicate whether it was shorted or not.

starrwsn - Disconnect all power and remove your CMOS battery for about 10-20 and then try to boot again. I'm surprised no one suggested that yet. |

Yeah I tried to reset CMOS already. I removed battery for 30sec then I put it back in. I have 4x512mb ram. Ive tried diff ram in diff slots with only using one stick. I no its not ram, video card, or monitor because I tested with other computers. The only thing I haven't done yet was to remove the mobo to check for a short. I also havent checked the cpu. I'll have time tomorow to test cpu in another 939pin comp I have. Ill also take the mobo out and try to boot.
