please help me!!
i have purchased a new system which i have assembled my self. whilst trying to install win xp i keep getting an error message. the message is a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. if this is the first time you have seen this error screen, restart your computer. if this screen reappears, follow these steps: disable or uninstall any anti virus, disk defrag, or backup utilities. check your hard drive config, and check for any updated drivers. run chkdsk /f to check your for hard disk corruption, and then restart your computer. *** stop: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF7CDE668, 0XF7489721) *** NTFS.SYS - ADDRESS F7489721 base at F744F000, date stamp 41107eaa system spec. Athlon 64 3200 venice Abit AN8 32x 1 Gb RAM (2x 512 Mb sticks) Gaiward 6800 gs 512 Mb Diamondmax 10 200Gb SATA hard disk i have tried... removing one of the memory sticks ( instal seems to hang at "loading kernell debugger" when i do this) creating a smaller partition on the HD and installing on that. installing an IDE HD and installing onto that. resetting the mobo bios, from within the bios and by a jumper. none of this has helped me any. I did manage to get xp up and running first time. but after installing Avast anti virus and restarting it flagged up a load of files in the windows directory, which i told it to ignore as i didn't know what they did, and i hadn't connected to the internet. after i shut it down, it would not reload xp and i'm now stuck where i am now. please help |

Hi,
If this does not get it for you, then I would suggest starting over and writing zero's to the drive to clean everything off it before you try to reinstall. If you get that many flags with Avast, you must still have something amiss on that drive.
