P4p800 Deluxe with Sata Segate 120gb
First I need to give you an overview of what I've done, and what the problem is.
I first cloned my ide hard drive to my new Sata seagate drive thats running Windows XP sp2. (I tried several times at first to do a complete install of Windows XP on my Sata drive, but it would do a reboot right in the middle of the installation. I could never find the drivers for this hard drive to do the F6 option) Everything seems fine, until I install software on occasion. When I install software the machine wants to reboot right in the middle of an install. Now this doesn't happen everytime I install software, it just seems random. I changed the option in Windows XP to not reboot when there's a problem, so I could receive the wonderful blue screen STOP: message. The error is KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR STOP: 0x0000007a (0xC03E121C, 0xC000000E, 0xF8487384, 0x07CD7860) Atapi.sys - address F8487384 Base At F847A000 DATESTAMP 41107b4d Would the problem be my P4P800 motherboard isn't compatible with the sata hard drive? I ran a drive integrity test on the hard drive and everything is fine. Like I said everything runs fine, until I want to install software. I even ran a sfc /scannow and that was fine. Any solutions? |

The drivers you need to install at the F6 prompt are not the hard drive drivers but the controller drivers. The controller drivers are on the CD that came with the motherboard. You would need to transfer them onto a floppy disk.
As far as you problems with the stop error, it almost sounds like you have a bad image or the file system is corrupt. You might try and do a fresh install. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=130801 |
