Installing XP to a RAID on A7N8X-E Dlx
I have a working system with the 2 IDE drives and Win2K Sp4. I just added the SATA drives to the system and setup the RAID 1. Just so I'm straight, what are all the settings that need to be set in the bios (v1013) to enable/use SATA and RAID? Anything change using the RAID for the boot device? (The manual is alittle shy on this.)
I've about decided to just bite the bullet and do a clean install of XP on the RAID - how do I make sure that the 2 partitions on the RAID are C: and D:? Disconnect the IDE drives during install? Will I still be able to access all the files on the other partitions of the IDE drives and will the previous Win2K install cause me any problems immediately after hooking the drives back up and rebooting? (Before I have a chance to repartition the drives.) Thanks in advance. __________________ A7N8X-E deluxe R1.01 AMD XP 3200+ Thermaltake Volcano 11+ 3 x 512mb Kingston PC3200 2 x Maxtor ATA 133 160gig 2 x Maxtor SATA 80gig RAID 1 2 x Pioneer 110 DVD-R/RW GForce 5900 Win2K Pro/WinXP Pro |

First off if you have not already done so I would make a floppy disk with the drivers you need to install during the O/S install ( when prompted at F6 ),
make sure you have raid enabled and sata enabled as well as making sure the raid is selected as bootable If you are going to install from scratch on the 2 sata drives I would first disconnect all the other drives you have until the install is finished then you can connect them back up but make sure you go into the bios and disable the drives in the harddrive section of the bios, this should be listed under the boot priority section
