New computer won't boot HELP!
Ok well I just got a new computer the specs are
asus a8n-sli deluxe mobo Amd athlon 3800+ x2 manchester 2GB of cosair value RAM 550 watt antec truepower 2 thermaltake shark Western Digital 250GB 16mb cache sata 3.0GB/s Ok this is what happened. I hooked it all up and got my windows xp home sp2 disc and put it in. So it booted from that and I formatted it and everything. When it got done it restarted and I tried to turn the computer on, it went passed the windows loading screen and then a blue screen poped up and gave me a code it was 0x00000007b. I didn't really know what to do so I decided to install windows on it again. So I unpartitioned the drive and tried to format windows on there again well, since I wanted this to go fast I did the quick format. Well it got to 20% and froze, I looked at the dvd drive and it wasn't blinking the green light it just sat there for an hour. So I did it again and it got passed the formatting screen and got to windows copy screen, so it started copying the data over but then all of a sudden it froze at 1% again. So I was thinking maybe my dvd drive is broke or something so I got my old cd-rom drive and it did the exact same thing. So then I said well maybe it's my home cd so I went and got my windows xp pro. I tried it on that and did the quick format, it froze again but about 30 seconds after it froze a blue screen pops up and gives me the code 0x0000000009c. So I don't know what is wrong now. I find out that code means faulty hardware. So I put the code in google. And it was either my memory, psu, overstressed power strip, or over heating(Not overheating because I setup the computer in my garage, it is cold out there, and all fans are working fine in the case). So I do memtest and it did one pass and decided instead of waiting around see if it is the power strips or something. So I bring it inside and tried different power stuff and still not working. So I decide to see if the psu I got is the problem, so I hook it up to a different computer and it works fine. Then I decided to hook up my HD from my other computer and try it. Well when it goes to boot the hd this blue screen comes up 0x00000007b. Same as before when I did get windows working my the HD I bought. Also my older HD is an ide HD and my new one is sata 2. I plugged it in the black ports on my mobo, there are black and red ports, I am also using a red sata cord is there come special type of sata 2 cord. Right now I am at a loss and I really need some help. Thanks. Last edited by Jrod15; 01-26-2006 at 01:22 PM. |
