USB problem with A7V8X-MX SE
Hi all, I've got this problem with my A7V8X-MX SE mobo and hope someone has an answer for me. Whenever I plug in a USB device, modem, printer etc.. my pc just resets itself. I'm using an Athlon 2600XP CPU and a stick of 512MB DDR memory.
Tried everything and now I'm really considering buying a new mobo. |

Hi,
This is one of those stab in the dark questions. Each device you add takes some power, so is it possible you are overloading an overtaxed power supply? What brand name and wattage are you using? Second thought, did you load the chipset drivers when you installed the motherboard. Third thing, when you go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, do you see any yellow or red question marks that might indicate problems with already installed items? What happens when the USB device is already connected when you boot up? Post back when you have had a chance to look at these possibilities. |

Before I check those things, I can tell you that when I had my printer connected via USB (Epson R300), my pc would post then just reset itself. Continously. When I unplug the printer USB cable, it boots into XP fine.
I've tried using the on board graphics too. I thought there was a problem with my Nvidia MX440. It didn't make a difference. |
