Asus P5AD2-E Premium Question
Hey guys any help would be appreciated.
Is it possible to run a single sata drive as a data drive while having a Raid 0 array as the 'c' drive? I have just installed xp pro on (2) stripped raptors; when I try to install a sata drive to any other sata port my machine trys to boot from it. The raptors are installed on sata raid1 and sata raid2 of the silicon image controller. (bottom of the mobo, below the pci slots) Also is it possible to switch the drives to the south bridge controller without reinstalling xp? thanks, Baci |

Thanks Joe!!
Before you replied... I moved the raptors to the south bridge and deleted the volume, then created a new one with the intel utility. This went without a hitch. (Drives were detected by utility) I did this because I thought it was part of the problem; and because I read in another thread that the intel controller was much faster than the silicon image. Note the time of my post... Now the bios doesn't detect the drives, so when I try to setup win xp it says "setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer". I have updated the bios to the latest version and also have tried plugging the drives into (sata1,2), (1,3), (2,4) of the Intel controller but to no avail. Thanks again |

I'm formatting!!!!! WooHooo!!!
Here's a little something that I haven't come across...ever! I thought I would share...the mb support cd didn't show the intel raid controll driver in the interface, which led me to believe that I didn't need it. After reading every related thread on this board, the asus board, and the knowlege base on Intel's site I thought I would throw the cd in my old pc. Guess what???? It only showed the USB2 driver....nothing else!!! *** is that all about?? It showed all kind of stuff in the other machine. Anyway, this led me to explore the disc and to find the driver buried in directories. Thank GAWD!!! Cheers everyone! |
