My fans wont power up

I have just reinstalled a replacement P4C800ED and whilst the green light on the board comes on ok all the fans only flicker momentarily and do not start up. The psu fan also only flickers. I do have a replacement psu I can try, however as the existing one is a modular unit with individual and very stiff cables I really want to ask if there is anything I can try before substituting it. (The cables are very difficult to get in as the case is fairly restricted.) The modular unit is a 500w unit, 6 months old and I have not changed any hardware.

hmmm sounds like you have no choice but to try the other psu. You dont need to install it to the case to try. Try and let us know pls. Good luck. ( such a friday night fun huh )

*and also if you can give the specs for psu's it might be useful.

Actually I find I cant use the other psu. I need a 4 pin 12v connector and anyway its only 250 w. Guess i'll have to RMA the Ultra X connect.

Further to that someone suggested an out of the box test which I just did and everything powered up ok. So I guess its a short somewhere.

My System

I have had a simular problem!

This is going to sound crazy but it worked for me. When this happened to me I stuck 2 sheets of paper in the case and stuck a pencil thru for the mount holes and installed the board and it powered up. If you have some of those red paper washers you could try gluing them on top of the mount holes and then put the board in. Just a thought.

There is no way it is an X-connect issue they kick BUTT!

Thanks for the responses guys. Turned out to be the main power switch. When I reversed the little ATX plug on the front panel connector everything started up immediately.
