A7N8X-E Deluxe jumpy sound under Win98SE. Help!
I have the mentioned board with:
Sempron 2800+ 512MB RAM ASUS 9520TD (FX5200 128MB) The simplest sound format there is, the .MP2 (the one that is present, for example, in VCD movies) is like too fast or something, since jumps forward each three seconds or so. It also drags the video forward (skips lotsa frames). Note that if I play a mute movie, it goes normal (not a video problem). This problem also affects the game Bloodrayne. I had to set the hardware acceleration to none under multimedia properties to make the sound play normally (in games and movies). The fact is that I don't want to turn off the APU's acceleration since it takes a big load of stress off the CPU when it's working. The other game I had the chance to play is Jedi Academy and doesn't have any problems even with sound hardware acceleration maxed (doesn't seem to have MPEG sound). I guess it's a driver problem but I'm quite puzzled. By the way, I'm using the nForce driver version 1.16 posted in the ASUS site as the newest one, regardless of the number. Thanks for reading! |
