PC trouble

I've tried contacting CyberPower (where I got my computer) multiple times with no luck. Hopefully somebody here can help me diagnose what is wrong with my computer.

Two weeks ago, my computer began freezing on the desktop during boot up. I would have to manually restart, and then it would work fine. Three nights ago, after trying to turn it on, it kept shutting off before it even got to the desktop. After multiple tries, I got to the error screen, where I tried to boot in safe mode, but it froze while loading drivers (the last driver it tried to load was called crcdisk.sys). For the past 3 days I've tried at least once a day, and each time it makes it to the error screen, but Safe Mode, Boot with last good configuration and boot normally freeze while loading up (Safe mood still freezes on crcdisk.sys). Can you guys give me any advice what so ever so I can figure out what's wrong?

Windows Vista, current as of 4 days ago

Re: PC trouble

Not sure how long you've had your PC?
If it's been a while I'd suggest opening the case and cleaning out any dust etc., reseating the RAM and booting it up again.
Could be a faulty power supply.

Re: PC trouble

what are you running
video card
cpu
m/board
ram
power supply
brand
wattage

check the listings in the bios for voltages and temperatures and post them

if this is the last one listed [crcdisk.sys] then it is the following that is the problem

Re: PC trouble

Your problem seems to be a common one and possibly caused by a Vista update.
Try booting from a Linus CD to bypas the Hdd(s). If that works then you know the rest of your hardware is OK.

I found this from Windows Client TechCenter

Re: PC trouble

I haven't installed Vista in a long time so I can't recall.
You can make a Recovery Disc.

Ok, odd, I tried booting in safe mode again, with the vista disk in and with DVD drive loading first, and it got me to the desktop.

Regular boot worked too with the Vista DVD in...Going to try without the DVD in now for a final test.

Wow, I booted a few times with the CyberPower Vista recovery DVD and the DVD drive set to boot first and now it works fine. Very surprised.

Thanks for the help.
